BLOCKS by SIZE 15" Quilt Blocks

Do you have a aversion to math? Well then the 15" inch quilt block is a welcome choice as the patches are designed in divisions and multiples of fives for ease. An added bonus is that by making a larger block, your quilt will go together in no time as there are less blocks to make.

Sample Quilt Layouts

I am always amazed when what appears to be a very ordinary block such as the Z Cross, can create such an interesting secondary pattern when placed in the quilt. (Note how pinwheels appear when you place the blocks next to each other.) Needless to say I was really pleased with the resultant quilts I came up with while playing around with the layouts.

The quilt layout featured below on the left sets the blocks on point in a very standard setting. What results is both a positive and negative pinwheel design when the blocks sit next to each other.

The quilt layout illustrated on the right also uses an on point block setting. By strategically placing the colourful, blank blocks and also pieced half blocks in the design, a striking central motif results.
