BLOCKS by SIZE 9" Quilt Blocks

There is no question that 12" quilt blocks are the most commonly used. But at times, you want to make a block that is a little smaller and uses easy math. Enter the 9 inch block -- not too big and not too small, but just fits the bill.

Sample Quilt Layouts

The X and Square quilt block might be considered as a sort of "study in square in a square patches". You will get lots of practice making this underused patch -- (at least it is underused in my opinion).

The quilt layout featured below on the left sets the three colour block in an on point setting of the blocks. Sashing strips and colourful "cornerstones" separate the blocks for an extra splash of colour.

The quilt layout illustrated on the right uses a stand side by side block setting. This four colour version of the block brings out the centre star motif that is created when you use this additional colour in the blocks.
