Wyoming

Sample Quilt Layouts

The Wyoming quilt block is one of several in a category I have called Cities and Places that you will find on this website. This quilt block is a nine patch design featuring simple patches that you will learn as a beginner quilter.

Choosing a quilt layout for your blocks is a fun chapter in quiltmaking and the illustrations shown below will give you some ideas of how to set the blocks in your own quilt.

The quilt layout on the left uses a standard side by side block setting and separates them with sashing strips. This is a very common setting of the quilt blocks and as a result, the stars become the focus of the quilt.

The quilt layout on the right sets whole and half blocks on point and adds an extra spark of colour in the form of blank blocks, which also enlarges the quilt and gives the perfect space for showcasing your quilting designs.
