The Uneven Nine Patch style of quilt block is so named because not all of the nine individual patches are the same size as is the case in a regular nine patch quilt block. This style of quilt block is often used in 10" quilt block to make the math easier, but you will find this construction method in many other quilt blocks as well.
Woven Chevron
Free Quilt Block Pattern
The Woven Chevron is a simple block made up of commonly used patches -- the half square triangle, quarter square triangles and squares. I took the liberty of making the central patch less bulky by using a square in a square patch, rather than four half square triangles, as in the original rendition of this block. This reduces the number of seams in the centre of the block.
You can do all sorts of interesting designs using this four patch block -- (so named as it is designed on a 4 x 4 grid). However, due to my edit of the design as mentioned above, it is easily constructed instead as an uneven nine patch.
