BLOCKS by SIZE 8" Quilt Blocks

Eight inch quilt blocks are commonly used in quilts that are made up of one block only and the parts are easily divisible by four. Also, by setting the blocks in different layouts, you can create many different new designs -- sometimes with just a simple rotation of the block. This is not to say that larger or smaller versions of the same quilt block cannot be used in your quilt. Once again, you are the designer.

Wheel in the Road

Sample Quilt Layouts

The Wheel in the Road quilt block is a block sewn as an uneven nine patch design with a small four patch as its centre, forming a pinwheel.

The quilt layout featured below on the left sets the blocks side by side with a large open area in the centre, which is the ideal spot to introduce an intricate quilting design.

The quilt layout illustrated on the right uses an on point block setting with lots of additional colour added in the form of blank blocks and side setting triangles, all separated with sashing strips.
