BLOCKS by SIZE 9" Quilt Blocks

There is no question that 12" quilt blocks are the most commonly used. But at times, you want to make a block that is a little smaller and uses easy math. Enter the 9 inch block -- not too big and not too small, but just fits the bill.

Sample Quilt Layouts

Below are two very different quilt layouts featuring the Wagon Tracks quilt bloock, a simple nine patch design.

The quilt layout featured on the left uses 90 degree rotations of the blocks, in groupings of four. Two different motifs emerge as the rotations are different in the sections of the quilt.

The quilt layout illustrated on the right sets the blocks on point and rotates several of those blocks to create the horizontal and vertical bands running across the quilt. Several blank blocks in different colours add an extra design element to this quilt.
