BLOCKS by SIZE 16" Quilt Blocks

Larger quilt blocks offer the incentive that there are less to make to produce your quilt. When time is limited, this size of block is your best friend. A second feature is that you can try a more difficult design as the pieces may be many, but the sizes of the patches are easy to work with. A win-win all around.

The Use It All quilt block is technically a four patch design because it is built on a 4 x 4 grid. However, this block is constructed as an uneven nine patch as the design dictates that is the best way to sew this quilt block.

I had never heard of this quilt block before, but I really liked working with it since it allows for six different fabrics to use in the design. You will use three different patches to construct this block -- a square in a square patch for the centre, as well as using both half square triangle and quarter square triangle cut pieces to form the patch that many quilters call a three quarter square triangle. This is a fun block to create, but care must be taken to observe the colour placement of the fabrics.
