BLOCKS by SIZE 10.5" Quilt Blocks

A quilt block in a size of 10½ inches is not commonly used, but it is a nice "in-between" size to scale a quilt block when 14" is too big and 7" is too small. As you may have guessed, these quilt blocks fit into the category of seven patch since they are designed on a 7 x 7 grid.

Sample Quilt Layouts

The two sample quilt layouts featured below using the Twisted Ribbon quilt block present very different results.

The quilt layout shown on the left used an on point setting of the blocks with lots of extra sparks of colour in the form of the large corner triangles attached to each block. The careful placement of those colours add additional interest to the quilt design.

The quilt layout illustrated on the right uses a standard side by side block setting to produce the illusion of a meandering "ribbon" across the whole quilt.
