Nine Patch Uneven Nine Patch
The Uneven Nine Patch style of quilt block is so named because not all of the nine individual patches are the same size as is the case in a regular nine patch quilt block. This style of quilt block is often used in 10" quilt block to make the math easier, but you will find this construction method in many other quilt blocks as well.

Free Quilt Block Pattern

The Temple Court quilt block was new to me and I liked it immediately. This block is an ideal choice if you want to make a larger block, although I have included instructions for two smaller sized blocks as well.

If you have had little practice using the square in a square patch, this is your chance -- (look for the red pops of colour in this sample block). You will also sew a few flying geese units, just for good measure. Other than those patches, the rest of the pieces are simply squares and rectangles to make this striking block -- easy, peasy.
