BLOCKS by SIZE 9" Quilt Blocks

There is no question that 12" quilt blocks are the most commonly used. But at times, you want to make a block that is a little smaller and uses easy math. Enter the 9 inch block -- not too big and not too small, but just fits the bill.

Sample Quilt Layouts

The two quilt layouts shown below both set the blocks on point, but with very different results.

The quilt layout illustrated on the left separates the blocks with sashing strips and "cornerstones" while additionally using blank blocks for specific colour focus, as well as a spot to showcase your quilting design.

The quilt layout featured on the right adds large corner triangles to each block, thereby enlarging the block, but more importantly, giving the quilt extra splashes of colour with the careful placement of these corner triangles. By utilizing the dark background, the blocks seem to "float", for additional interest.
