The two sample quilt layouts shown below featuring the Sunshine block both use diagonal settings, with very different results.

The quilt layout featured on the left uses a standard on point block setting, and surrounds each block with sashing strips. The replacement of some of the pieced blocks with blank blocks gives an added pop of colour.

The quilt layout illustrated on the right adds large corner triangles to each block. Careful placement of the colour of these large triangles gives an extra design element to the quilt.
