BLOCKS by SIZE 10.5" Quilt Blocks

A quilt block in a size of 10½ inches is not commonly used, but it is a nice "in-between" size to scale a quilt block when 14" is too big and 7" is too small. As you may have guessed, these quilt blocks fit into the category of seven patch since they are designed on a 7 x 7 grid.

Sample Quilt Layouts

The Stone Tiles quilt block is an ideal choice to introduce a beginner quilter to the seven patch block.

The quilt layout shown below on the left sets the blocks on point and borders them with sashing strips of the darkest colour. The colourful, blank blocks offer the perfect spot to showcase your quilting stitches.

The quilt layout illustrated on the right also uses the darkest colour of fabric as sashing strips to separate the blocks, which are set side by side. This adds an extra design element to the block. The mitred borders in two fabrics at opposite sides of the quilt give some additional pizzazz to the final product.
