BLOCKS by SIZE 9" Quilt Blocks

There is no question that 12" quilt blocks are the most commonly used. But at times, you want to make a block that is a little smaller and uses easy math. Enter the 9 inch block -- not too big and not too small, but just fits the bill.

Sample Quilt Layouts

The Star on Star quilt block is a nine patch design forming two overlapping pinwheels.

The quilt layout illustrated below on the left uses a standard side by side setting of the blocks, separating them with sashing strips for additional colour.

The quilt layout featured on the right sets the blocks on point and also uses sashing strips with a prominent "cornerstone" in the strips for an additional point of interest. The blank blocks and side setting triangles add extra pizzazz to the finished quilt design.
