BLOCKS by SIZE | 15" Quilt Blocks |
Do you have a aversion to math? Well then the 15" inch quilt block is a welcome choice as the patches are designed in divisions and multiples of fives for ease. An added bonus is that by making a larger block, your quilt will go together in no time as there are less blocks to make.
Squash Blossom
Free Quilt Block Pattern
The Squash Blossom quilt block is a representation of the edible flowers of Cucurbita species that produces zucchini and different types of squash. I took a liberty with my colour choices though, as generally the real flower is yellow.
My version of this nine patch block gives the look of a southwestern style of art due to the arrangement of shapes (at least it does to me). The block is simple to sew and features common patches -- the half square triangle and flying geese units. The centre is comprised of s single quarter square triangle patch to emphasize an accent colour for the block.
