The Squash Blossom quilt block has an obvious directional nature due to the colour placement of some of the patches. This then, allows for great creativity in your resultant quilt layouts.

The quilt layout featured on the left sets the blocks side by side and separates them with sashing strips. If you look carefully, you will see that some of the rows of blocks have used 90 degree rotations of the blocks to add some extra interest.

The quilt layout illustrated on the right uses an on point block layout and enlarges each block with additional, large corner triangles. Careful colour placement of these larger triangles gives an added feature to the resultant quilt.
