BLOCKS by SIZE 9" Quilt Blocks

There is no question that 12" quilt blocks are the most commonly used. But at times, you want to make a block that is a little smaller and uses easy math. Enter the 9 inch block -- not too big and not too small, but just fits the bill.

Sample Quilt Layouts

The two sample quilts shown below illustrate how direction and placement of the blocks can result in very different resultant quilts.

The quilt layout featured on the left sets the blocks on point and increases the size of each block by the addition of large corner triangles on each one. The careful colour placement of of these large triangles adds a new design element to the quilt along with extra splashes of colour.

The quilt layout illustrated on the right uses a standard side by side block setting which creates an entirely different look to the quilt.
