Sample Quilt Layouts
Both of the sample quilt layouts illustrated use an on point setting for the blocks, drawing the eye diagonally over the surface, but you will notice that they are quite different. This is what makes quiltmaking such an interesting craft -- you can do such a variety of things with the same blocks to make a totally different quilt!
The quilt layout on the left uses a standard format for an on point setting of the blocks. The side setting triangles, using the same background fabric, make the central motif seem to float on the quilt.
The quilt layout featured on the right uses additional "half blocks" to complete an overall design for the quilt. The mitred borders in alternate colours in each half of the quilt add an extra spot of interest to the design.
