BLOCKS by SIZE Larger Quilt Blocks

This page is for quilt blocks that are larger than 16" as a finished product. Some quilt block patterns lend themselves better to be larger -- generally, because they are made with measurements that are not the norm, or they are more complicated and therefore require more pieces. The good news here is that by making a larger quilt block, you need to make fewer for your final project. A win-win situation.

Sparkle Star

Free Quilt Block Pattern

The Sparkle Star quilt block would fall into the intermediate category of difficulty. It looks very complicated, but as you will likely make this block in a larger size, the pieces are not too small to make this a difficult block to sew. There are lots of pieces, but with careful attention to your quarter inch seam allowances, this block goes together easily.

This quilt block features lots of half square triangles, in two different sizes, and is a good choice for using up your scraps, although I have chosen a consistent fabric choice thoroughout.
