Nine Patch Uneven Nine Patch
The Uneven Nine Patch style of quilt block is so named because not all of the nine individual patches are the same size as is the case in a regular nine patch quilt block. This style of quilt block is often used in 10" quilt block to make the math easier, but you will find this construction method in many other quilt blocks as well.

Sample Quilt Layouts

The Sawtooth Star quilt block is an old favourite of quilters and it is a wonderful choice for a stand-alone block or is frequently used as the centre in another quilt block.

The quilt layout shown below on the left sets the blocks side by side with sashing strips to separate them. An extra fabric is introduced here to complement the existing colour choice.

The quilt layout illustrated on the right sets the block on point and adds large corner triangles to each, to increase the quilt size. By alternating different fabric choices on these corner triangles and laying them side by side, you achieve a sort of "colour blocking" result in your quilt.
