There is no question that 12" quilt blocks are the most commonly used. But at times, you want to make a block that is a little smaller and uses easy math. Enter the 9 inch block -- not too big and not too small, but just fits the bill.

The Rolling Stone quilt block is an easy design to construct and makes for some striking quilt designs.

The quilt layout featured below on the left sets the blocks side by side, separating each block with sashing strips, for another design element and additional pop of colour.

The quilt layout illustrated on the right sets the blocks on point, thereby creating a secondary horizontal and vertical pattern that is unexpected. The blank blocks here and there add an extra splash of colour and a spot to showcase a quilting design.
