BLOCKS by SIZE 9" Quilt Blocks

There is no question that 12" quilt blocks are the most commonly used. But at times, you want to make a block that is a little smaller and uses easy math. Enter the 9 inch block -- not too big and not too small, but just fits the bill.

Free Quilt Block Pattern

The Road to Grandma's quilt block is one more to add to your collection of "family" type quilt blocks. (Links to several more are listed below).

This nine patch design contains three different pieced patches -- half square triangles, the square in a square for the centre, and my favourite patch, the flying geese unit.

I had not seen this quilt block before and perhaps you have not either. I liked the subtle star that peeks out from behind the darker fabrics. This would make a wonderful choice for a teaching block that is not used as frequently in classes as other common blocks.
