BLOCKS by SIZE 16" Quilt Blocks

Larger quilt blocks offer the incentive that there are less to make to produce your quilt. When time is limited, this size of block is your best friend. A second feature is that you can try a more difficult design as the pieces may be many, but the sizes of the patches are easy to work with. A win-win all around.

Sample Quilt Layouts

The two sample quilt layouts shown below for the Railroad block, use two distinct settings of the blocks resulting in very different resultant quilts.

The quilt layout featured on the left sets the blocks side by side. By rotating alternate blocks a geometric design emerges, drawing the eye diagonally across the quilt.

The quilt layout illustrated on the right sets the blocks on point. By adding large corner triangles to each block, and rotating some of the blocks by 90 degrees, a distinct design results. The careful colour placement of the corner triangles gives an added splash of colour to the quilt.
