Plaited Block

Free Quilt Block Pattern

The Plaited Block is another example of an optical illusion design. It is comprised of simple patches that give the impression of twists and turns once placed next to another block.

This eight patch block is constructed in "chunks" (as I like to call them) and then sewn together as an uneven nine patch. Using only squares, rectangles and half square triangles, you will produce an intriguing design when the blocks are placed in a quilt.
