BLOCKS by SIZE 15" Quilt Blocks

Do you have a aversion to math? Well then the 15" inch quilt block is a welcome choice as the patches are designed in divisions and multiples of fives for ease. An added bonus is that by making a larger block, your quilt will go together in no time as there are less blocks to make.

Sample Quilt Layouts

For those who visit here regularly, you are aware that I just adore plaid in general. So, I have designed two quilt layouts, that will give you some inspiration to use this simple Plaid quilt block in your personal quilt.

The quilt layout featured below on the left sets the blocks side by side for the easiest construction option. I separated the blocks with narrow sashing strips, alternating the colours of the strips to keep with the "plaid" design.

The quilt layout illustrated on the right uses both whole and half blocks in a diagonal setting. I used the same idea of different colours for the sashing strips to build on the idea of a plaid, and I must say, I am pleased with the results.

Both of these quilt designs will give you the desired "plaid" effect in your quilt. The choice lies in whether you want a horizontal/vertical plaid, or a diagonal effect. Which is your choice?
