Larger quilt blocks offer the incentive that there are less to make to produce your quilt. When time is limited, this size of block is your best friend. A second feature is that you can try a more difficult design as the pieces may be many, but the sizes of the patches are easy to work with. A win-win all around.
Odd Fellow's Chain
Sample Quilt Layouts
The Odd Fellow's Chain quilt block is a star within a star quilt block featuring lots of half square triangles and flying geese patches for those quilters who want more of a challenge in their quilt design.
The quilt layout shown below on the left uses a "colour block" approach to setting the blocks on point causing a striking vertical colour effect in the design. The quilt layout illustrated on the right sets the blocks side by side for an overall geometric effect.
