The Nine Patch Square - Variation quilt block is built on the original block - Nine Patch Square.

The quilt layout illustrated below on the left sets the blocks on point which gives the opportunity to add extra splashes of colour in the form of blank blocks and side setting triangles.

The quilt layout on the right sets the blocks side by side for an easier design to create, and a totally different look in your final quilt.
