|BLOCKS by SIZE||12" Quilt Blocks|
A quilter's favourite - the twelve inch quilt block. These are probably the most commonly used. The measurements divide easily and evenly for quick calculations. Whether the goal is a bed-sized quilt or a cuddle quilt in an afghan size, a 12" quilt block is your go-to choice.
The two sample quilt layouts shown below using the Nelson's Victory quilt block show how very different a two quilts can be, all the while utilizing the same block.
The quilt layout featured on the left, sets the blocks side by side and separates them with sashing strips. The contrasting "cornerstones" in the sashing strips add another design element to make this quilt shine.
The quilt layout illustrated on the right adds larger triangle patches to each corner of the blocks. This then effectively sets the blocks on point where a different look to the block emerges. By careful colour placement of these corner triangles, you can achieve a variety of quilt designs. The hard part is choosing which design to use.
