|9" Quilt Blocks
There is no question that 12" quilt blocks are the most commonly used. But at times, you want to make a block that is a little smaller and uses easy math. Enter the 9 inch block -- not too big and not too small, but just fits the bill.

The Napa Valley quilt block is a nine patch design featuring the two most frequently used pieced patches -- the flying geese unit and the half square triangle. Lastly, the centre patch is one that is underused -- at least in my opinion -- and that is the square in a square.
All in all, these common patches go together nicely to form a double star shape. Also note, that I used colours that remind me of drinking wine while enjoying a sunset in the Napa Valley, just because of the name of the block. [pats self on the back]
