BLOCKS by SIZE 9" Quilt Blocks

There is no question that 12" quilt blocks are the most commonly used. But at times, you want to make a block that is a little smaller and uses easy math. Enter the 9 inch block -- not too big and not too small, but just fits the bill.

Sample Quilt Layouts

Two sample quilt layouts are featured below using this nine patch block called Mystery Flower Garden, in designs as if this was a flower garden at night.

The quilt layout illustrated on the left sets the blocks on point and separates them with sashing strips in the same colour as the background fabric of the blocks. This gives the illusion of the blocks floating in the night sky and bringing more attention to the subtle star that appears as a result.

The quilt layout shown on the right sets the blocks in a common side by side setting which results in a more geometric effect in the final quilt.
