BLOCKS by SIZE 9" Quilt Blocks

There is no question that 12" quilt blocks are the most commonly used. But at times, you want to make a block that is a little smaller and uses easy math. Enter the 9 inch block -- not too big and not too small, but just fits the bill.

The Mystery Flower Garden quilt block is a wonderful choice for a teaching project for new quilters.

This nine patch design features the quarter square triangle and also uses the half square triangle as part of a patch that quilters sometimes refer to as a three quarter square triangle. See if you can spot it.

Tapping into the name of the block, I used several different colours of fabrics to be the "flowers" in the mystery garden. This is a great way to use up some of that stash.
