BLOCKS by SIZE 9" Quilt Blocks

There is no question that 12" quilt blocks are the most commonly used. But at times, you want to make a block that is a little smaller and uses easy math. Enter the 9 inch block -- not too big and not too small, but just fits the bill.

Mother's Favourite

Sample Quilt Layouts

I chose to use the Mother's Favorite quilt block to make a "scrappy quilt". However, as you can see from the images below, this would be sort of a "controlled" scrap quilt as I am using only three colours, but lots and lots of different fabrics.

A subtle secondary design emerges when you choose to set the blocks in a side by side quilt layout. Alternatively, you can place the quilt blocks on point in the quilt layout to introduce additional blocks of colour. The sky is the limit in what you choose to do with this nine patch quilt block.
