BLOCKS by SIZE 9" Quilt Blocks

There is no question that 12" quilt blocks are the most commonly used. But at times, you want to make a block that is a little smaller and uses easy math. Enter the 9 inch block -- not too big and not too small, but just fits the bill.

Sample Quilt Layouts

The Mosaic quilt block is a name I gave this block. You may recognize it as a Disappearing Nine Patch design, and you would be correct. However, this version is designed for those quilters who prefer to hand piece their quilts.

All sorts of quilt layouts can be achieved using this intriguing block simply by placing the blocks side by side, as in the quilt layout on the left, or by setting the blocks on point for a totally different look. The directional nature of the block can lead to a variety of different quilt layouts, simply by turning the blocks in 90 degree increments. What design will you create?
