BLOCKS by SIZE 5" Quilt Blocks

For those quilters wanting a little more of a challenge, five inch quilt blocks might be the answer -- smaller blocks usually means more blocks to make. Another reason for using five inch blocks is to create a secondary pattern. By using 4 blocks and rotating each of them, you get a different larger quilt block. These larger blocks can then be laid out in variety of ways to make some very interesting original designs.

Marion's Choice

Sample Quilt Layouts

The two sample quilts shown below using the Marion's Choice quilt block both utilize a diagonal setting of the blocks -- but with entirely different results.

The quilt layout featured on the left uses full and half pieced blocks, framed by sashing strips and adds lots of blank blocks for added pops of colour.

The quilt layout illustrated on the right adds large corner triangles to each block in a variety of colours to make a planned arrangement for the final quilt.
