The traditional Maple Leaf quilt block is a directional block that offers up additional options when it comes to creating your quilt design layout. Simple 90 degree rotations of individual blocks or block groupings can create secondary designs that you might not have considered. This is always a nice surprise. Both of the quilt layouts shown below use this technique to yield very different results.
