BLOCKS by SIZE 8" Quilt Blocks

Eight inch quilt blocks are commonly used in quilts that are made up of one block only and the parts are easily divisible by four. Also, by setting the blocks in different layouts, you can create many different new designs -- sometimes with just a simple rotation of the block. This is not to say that larger or smaller versions of the same quilt block cannot be used in your quilt. Once again, you are the designer.

Sample Quilt Layouts

Two sample quilt layouts featuring the Magic Triangles quilt block are shown below.

The quilt layout illustrated on the left sets the blocks on point with lots of extra colour used in the blank blocks and side triangles for some added pizzazz.

The quilt layout shown on the right also uses a diagonal setting of the blocks and creates lots of "negative space" in the blank blocks by using the same fabric as the background colour in the block. This creates a whole new design "shape" in the quilt and gives a wonderful spot for your quilting designs to make an appearance.
