BLOCKS by SIZE 12" Quilt Blocks

A quilter's favourite - the twelve inch quilt block. These are probably the most commonly used. The measurements divide easily and evenly for quick calculations. Whether the goal is a bed-sized quilt or a cuddle quilt in an afghan size, a 12" quilt block is your go-to choice.

The subtle colours in shades of purple and orange represent -- to me -- the sky at sunset over this Lover's Lane.

The quilt layout illustrated below on the left sets the blocks on point with large corner triangles on all four sides of each block. This enlarges the existing quilt block and the careful colour placement of these large triangles creates a sort of "colour blocking" effect in the resultant quilt.

The quilt layout featured on the right uses a different style of on point block setting. By separating the blocks with sashing strips and adding extra blank blocks with different colors, you can achieve a totally different look in your quilt design.
