Nine Patch Uneven Nine Patch
The Uneven Nine Patch style of quilt block is so named because not all of the nine individual patches are the same size as is the case in a regular nine patch quilt block. This style of quilt block is often used in 10" quilt block to make the math easier, but you will find this construction method in many other quilt blocks as well.

Lori's Star

Sample Quilt Layouts

The Lori's Star quilt block is actually two blocks in one. An Ohio Star is the centre feature in the block, which is an uneven nine patch design featuring quarter square triangles. This is a wonderful choice for a teaching experience in piecing a block that is a little different than the norm.

By adding blank blocks in a variety of colourways to enlarge the quilt layout, as shown on the left, you add a little extra "pizzazz" to that quilt, with blocks set on point. The quilt layout shown on the right sets the blocks side by side, for a totally different look.
