The Lightning in the Hills quilt block would be a wonderful choice as a "teaching block" for instructors in this art. It contains three different, common patches ~
~ half square triangles - the most commonly pieced patch
~ flying geese - my favourite patch
~ square in a square - an underused patch - (in my opinion)
This nine patch design features lots of motion -- just like a lightning strike in the hills.
