BLOCKS by SIZE 9" Quilt Blocks

There is no question that 12" quilt blocks are the most commonly used. But at times, you want to make a block that is a little smaller and uses easy math. Enter the 9 inch block -- not too big and not too small, but just fits the bill.

Sample Quilt Layouts

The two sample quilt layouts shown below look very different, but both are designed using a diagonal setting of the blocks.

The quilt layout featured on the left arranges the blocks around a blank area in the centre and separates these blocks with sashing strips in the same fabric as the background, to make the blocks appear to "float".

The quilt layout on the right also sets the blocks on point with no sashing strips between them. Strategically placed blank blocks add an extra splash of colour as well as a perfect spot to showcase a lovely quilting design.
