A quilter's favourite - the twelve inch quilt block. These are probably the most commonly used. The measurements divide easily and evenly for quick calculations. Whether the goal is a bed-sized quilt or a cuddle quilt in an afghan size, a 12" quilt block is your go-to choice.

Isabelle Star

Free Quilt Block Pattern

The Isabelle Star quilt block is a nine patch design with an intermediate level quilter in mind.

There are no difficult units to construct in this block, but you do get to try out three different patches -- the half square triangles, used as cut pieces along with quarter square triangles to create the patches which quilters often refer to as three-quarter square triangles. Four patch "checkerboards" are used in each of the corners of this star quilt block.
