|BLOCKS by SIZE||9" Quilt Blocks|
There is no question that 12" quilt blocks are the most commonly used. But at times, you want to make a block that is a little smaller and uses easy math. Enter the 9 inch block -- not too big and not too small, but just fits the bill.
The Inverted Star quilt block could also be called a "study in half square triangles" since it uses lots of those to create this scrappy block.
The quilt layout illustrated below on the left uses a standard side by side setting of the quilt blocks. Sashing strips separate the blocks and, because I used the same fabric as the background choice, the blocks seem to float.
The quilt layout featured on the right sets the blocks on point with additional blank blocks separating them. The reasoning here is twofold -- to add extra splashes of colour to further enhance the scrappy look of your quilt and as a space to showcase some lovely quilting designs.
