Inverted Star
Free Quilt Block Pattern
The Inverted Star quilt block uses the "negative" space in the centre of the block to form the star -- thus the word "inverted" in the block name.
This nine patch quilt block is the ideal choice to sew to use up all of those scraps of fabric left over from other projects. However, you could easily decide to use a single contrasting fabric in place of the scraps used for this block. This would give a controlled look to your quilt block.
The design is made up using lots of half square triangle patches, and a few squares thrown in. I purposely chose a dark blue fabric for the background to simulate a night sky where these stars will sparkle.
