|BLOCKS by SIZE||9" Quilt Blocks|
There is no question that 12" quilt blocks are the most commonly used. But at times, you want to make a block that is a little smaller and uses easy math. Enter the 9 inch block -- not too big and not too small, but just fits the bill.
The Indiana Star quilt block pattern is a good choice for practicing up your half square triangle patches. This nine patch block is quick and easy to sew and makes for a striking design. The centre pinwheel shape is enhanced by the movement in the corner patches which utilize more half square triangles.
Whether you place the quilt blocks side by side, as shown in the left quilt layout or perhaps you set the blocks on point, a totally different quilt will emerge. Sashing strips and setting triangles in the quilt layout on the right add just that extra pop of colour you might want.
