BLOCKS by SIZE 9" Quilt Blocks

There is no question that 12" quilt blocks are the most commonly used. But at times, you want to make a block that is a little smaller and uses easy math. Enter the 9 inch block -- not too big and not too small, but just fits the bill.

Illinois

Sample Quilt Layouts

These two sample quilt layouts shown below use the Illinois quilt block in very different resultant quilts.

The quilt layout illustrated on the left sets the blocks on point for a geometric design that looks much like a "Wild Goose Chase" quilt design as the flying geese patches cross over each other in a diagonal manner.

The quilt layout featured on the right sets the blocks side by side in a standard setting. The different border treatment gives the quilt an extra design element for interest.
