BLOCKS by SIZE 8" Quilt Blocks

Eight inch quilt blocks are commonly used in quilts that are made up of one block only and the parts are easily divisible by four. Also, by setting the blocks in different layouts, you can create many different new designs -- sometimes with just a simple rotation of the block. This is not to say that larger or smaller versions of the same quilt block cannot be used in your quilt. Once again, you are the designer.

Sample Quilt Layouts

The Idaho quilt block is one of a series of blocks on this website representing several Cities and Places. (More will be added as time goes on.)

The quilt layout illustrated on the left sets the blocks on point along with several blank blocks to showcase your quilting designs. The different colour treatment of the opposite corners of the border offer an extra design element to the quilt.

The quilt layout featured on the right also uses a diagonal block setting. With the different colour placement of the blank blocks you will achieve a totally different effect in this quilt.
