|BLOCKS by SIZE||9" Quilt Blocks|
There is no question that 12" quilt blocks are the most commonly used. But at times, you want to make a block that is a little smaller and uses easy math. Enter the 9 inch block -- not too big and not too small, but just fits the bill.
The two sample quilt layouts shown below both use an on point setting of the blocks -- but with very different results. It is almost hard to imagine that these quilts were created using the same block.
The quilt layout illustrated on the left sets both whole and half blocks on a diagonal and separates them with sashing strips to add an extra design element.
The quilt layout featured on the right adds larger corner triangles to each block, thus enlarging them. The careful colour placement of these larger triangles is what gives a whole different look to the resultant quilt.
