BLOCKS by SIZE 9" Quilt Blocks

There is no question that 12" quilt blocks are the most commonly used. But at times, you want to make a block that is a little smaller and uses easy math. Enter the 9 inch block -- not too big and not too small, but just fits the bill.

Free Quilt Block Pattern

The Housewife quilt block is a four patch design featuring half square triangles and quarter square triangles so it is a good choice for practising up those two patches. Together here in this block, these two patches create a unit which quilters often refer to a three quarter square triangle patch. This patch creates the pinwheels as the centre of the design.

The second featured quilt patch is the flying geese unit -- another favourite patch for quilters.

By making the different patches and then constructing them as quadrants, you will then create four individual larger patches -- hence the "four patch" label for this block.
