BLOCKS by SIZE 9" Quilt Blocks

There is no question that 12" quilt blocks are the most commonly used. But at times, you want to make a block that is a little smaller and uses easy math. Enter the 9 inch block -- not too big and not too small, but just fits the bill.

Sample Quilt Layouts

The Hansel and Gretel quilt block is a simple nine patch focusing on three pieced units -- namely the half square triangle, flying geese and the square in a square patch. So, all in all, this is a perfect choice for a beginner quilter.

Both of the sample quilt layouts shown below use on point settings -- although differently. This style of setting the quilt blocks allows for extra pops of colour to be added to the quilt in the form of blank blocks and setting triangles.
