BLOCKS by SIZE 9" Quilt Blocks

There is no question that 12" quilt blocks are the most commonly used. But at times, you want to make a block that is a little smaller and uses easy math. Enter the 9 inch block -- not too big and not too small, but just fits the bill.

Sample Quilt Layouts

The Hands of Friendship quilt block is a nine patch that will give you lots of practice in making half square triangles and a few flying geese patches.

The quilt layout shown below on the left uses a standard side by side setting of the blocks, with sashing strips for separation and added interest. The quilt layout on the right sets the blocks on point and takes advantage of the opportunity to complement your colour choices with additional corner setting triangles on each individual block -- for an extra pop of colour and a place to showcase your quilting designs.
