BLOCKS by SIZE 10" Quilt Blocks

What could be easier, math-wise, than a quilt block in a 10 inch size? Surprisingly, the 10" block is not the most commonly used size, (that would be the 12" block), but there are still many quilt blocks that fit into this category and here is my list of currently available patterns.

The Halley's Comet quilt block could be selected as a "study in half square triangles" -- at least in my mind. I'm always thinking as a teacher of quiltmaking, and so I like to instruct with blocks that are not the most commonly used. This cute pinwheel block is a fun one to make.

This five patch block is easy to construct, once you have sewn your half square triangle patches. I like to stitch blocks like this as an uneven nine patch, rather than sewing in five rows of five. I think it makes it easier to sew in what I call "chunks" instead of row by row -- but that is just me, so please use your preferred method and enjoy this striking quilt block.
